The Ask:
For this economic report, I was tasked with analyzing a current topic impacting the fashion industry. The goal was to understand how shifts in the national and global economy affect various aspects of fashion.
To develop this project, I chose to research Depop’s growth and its role in popularizing resale fashion. I analyzed economic concepts, such as consumer demand, market shifts, & pricing strategies, to understand Depop’s business model. To deepen my analysis, I explored media resources and academic journals on the second-hand economy.
The Outcome
Forecasting the future of Depop and the second-hand economy, I predicted significant growth in the resale market, with potential to outpace some traditional retail sectors over the next decade. Through this project, I learned how to use economic data to analyze market trends and gained a deeper understanding of the economic principles shaping online fashion.
